Bio

Owen leads Climate Solutions’ grant-seeking strategies and helps secure the financial resources necessary to advance our mission. As a member of Climate Solutions’ Development Team, he is dedicated to ethical fundraising and building a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization. Owen joined Climate Solutions in 2008 with a background in nonprofit management and policy advocacy on education and children’s issues. For six years, he worked for the Washington State PTA in a variety of roles, including two years as Interim Executive Director. Prior to entering the nonprofit sector, Owen worked in the publishing business and in the music industry.

Owen holds a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership (MNPL) from Seattle University and a BA in Arts, Media, and Culture from University of Washington-Tacoma. He is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals-Advancement Northwest and the Puget Sound Grantwriters Association. In 2013, Owen earned the designation of Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) from CFRE International.

Owen has a deep commitment to the Pacific Northwest – from our wilderness, waters, and wildlife to our urban communities, local music, arts, and architecture. He served on EarthShare Washington’s Board of Directors from 2013 to 2019, and is a long-time advocate for local community history, serving on the Board of Directors of the Tacoma Historical Society from 2011 to 2020. He is a veteran of several Northwest rock bands and can still sporadically be found making noise with his friends. Owen is from Tacoma, currently living in Seattle with his wife and two cats.
