Tukwila, WA is a diverse community with a small nighttime population of 19,000 and a large daytime population of 45,000. At the nexus of rivers, highways, and railroads, the city is an important commercial center to Washington State and the Northwest. It is home to Puget Sound’s largest shopping mall, a number of Boeing facilities, and several internet data centers.  

In 2011, Tukwila was one of the founding members of the King County-Cities Climate Collaboration (K4C). In 2015, Tukwila commissioned an Energy Map and Carbon Wedge analysis from New Energy Cities, along with a process for prioritization of community-wide carbon reduction strategies.
