The Yes Men are coming—and find Seattle to be revolting

As you know, Seattle is at the frontlines of the fight for climate action.

So many important struggles are taking place here right now. Many people arefighting to stop Arctic oil drilling, and to put the brakes on the creation of a fossil fuelexport superhighway. Seattle is also leading the northwest in the push to put a price on carbon pollution.

Building a truly powerful movement, and making significant progress towards a thriving clean energy economy, means taking every opportunity to counteract the money and influence of the powerful oil and gas companies. We are the Yes Men,and we are working towards this goal by helping activists use crafty techniques to promote change.

Activism comes in many shapes and sizes. For us, it sometimes involves impersonating big-time criminals in order to publicly humiliate them—and to give journalists a reason to hold major polluters and human rights abusers responsible for their actions. For example, on a previous trip to Seattle, “Shell Oil executives” held an Arctic drilling launch party at the Space Needle, at which things went messily (and amusingly) awry.

We can’t think of a better place than Seattle to share some more of our recent high jinks. That’s why we’re premiering our new movie here: The Yes Men Are Revolting, screening this Friday, June 12, at SIFF Uptown. There are still tickets available, and we'd love to see you there! Here's the trailer:

We’d love to see you at the screening this weekend and help you create your own action. Let’s inspire each other to continue taking on climate criminals, and working for climate justice!

Thanks for all you do,
Mike and Andy
The Yes Men

Author Bio

The Yes Men (Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno) are activists who employ a unique method they have dubbed Identity Correction.

Armed with well-crafted parody websites, press releases on fake letterhead, and thrift store business suits, The Yes Men impersonate the rich and powerful of the world to reveal the ways in which multinational corporations and politicians abuse the environment and human rights.

With biting satire combined with an element of absurdity and social engineering, they hijack the media and expose corruption and abuses of power at high levels.

The rich and powerful of the world then have no choice but to respond with a correction…. a correction that usually comes as an admission of guilt.

Give for a brighter future
