STAND UP TO OIL
No, Tesoro, no. No, no, no.
In last year's extreme weather and raging wildfires, we experienced first-hand some of the devastating impacts of climate change. It has never been more clear that we cannot allow new dirty oil infrastructure to be built. Washington Governor Inslee has an important decision coming up, whether or not to deny permission for the construction of what would be the largest crude oil-by-rail terminal in North America, in Vancouver, WA

On January 25th, please join us as we gather at Seattle's King Street Station to urge Governor Inslee to deny the Tesoro oil terminal proposal, that would bring a staggering 131 million barrels of oil each year through our region.

What: Keep the Oil in the Soil! Rally and Press Conference

This proposed Vancouver oil terminal would bring 5 fully loaded oil trains every day through communities across the Pacific Northwest, threatening communities and critical waterways like the Columbia River with risks of oil trains derailments and oil spills. With a total of 360,000 barrels a day coming, this one oil train project is 42% of the capacity of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline.

There's a lot of of momentum in in our favor. The Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council--the committee responsible for making a recommendation to the Governor on the project--unanimously recommended that Governor Inslee reject Tesoro’s dirty proposal. And, on their first meeting of year, the Port of Vancouver Commission unanimously voted to terminate the oil company's lease. Now, all eyes are on the Governor, who has the final say on the permits.
Please join us on January 25th to stand in solidarity with people across the region opposed to the Tesoro oil train project!
