We're the ones writing this story
March 26, 2019

We’ve all read or seen stories about our shared future. Whether it’s sci-fi, superhero movies, or other speculative narratives, we love sharing stories about where we might be going as a civilization and what might be the future consequences of the actions we are taking today. Will we live in a polluted, war-torn dystopia full of suffering? Or do we imagine a healthier future for ourselves and future generations where all beings can thrive?
Given the choice between optimism and pessimism these days, it can be hard to land on optimism, especially concerning our climate and the effect we are having on it. But, remember, we are the ones writing our own story—we can steer our plotline as it unfolds towards the future.
Let’s steer towards climate action and a healthy, vibrant future. Please contact your legislators today and ask them to support clean energy.
Right now, our lawmakers in Olympia are well into the current legislative session. And they’ve been debating several bills that would show real leadership on addressing climate change and climate impacts. By passing these bills, our state can commit to 100% clean electricity (SB 5116). We can have cleaner transportation fuels (HB1110), more efficient buildings and infrastructure for electric vehicles (HB 1257). And we can make sure that state agencies consider the needs of communities already hardest hit by pollution (HEAL Act SB 5489)
Please contact your legislators and tell them that climate action, clean air, clean energy and equity have to be central parts of the story if we’re going to create a healthy, vital future. Let’s make 2019 a story of climate leadership in Washington!
Thank you for all you give: your time and talent. Our happy ending is up to us, to write, to weave, to create!
