Climate Solutions supports Oregon ballot initiatives
October 8, 2019

Portland, Oregon –– Climate Solutions announced Tuesday that they have joined a broad coalition to file a series of statewide climate action ballot initiatives. Under the umbrella of Oregonians for Clean Air, Initiative Petitions 48, 49, and 50 would:

  • require all of Oregon’s electricity to come from 100% clean and renewable sources by 2045,
  • transform our homes, vehicles, and businesses to be powered by clean energy instead of fossil fuels
  • strengthen and enforce Oregon’s existing carbon pollution limits, and
  • set Oregon on a course to cut our state’s climate pollution in half by 2035 and be 100% clean and carbon-free by 2050.

“We’re still very committed to the Clean Energy Jobs bill and look forward to the Legislature passing it next year,” said Meredith Connolly, Climate Solutions’ Oregon Director. “Unfortunately, we’ve learned that we can’t rely on the legislative process alone to make needed progress. Our coalition is bringing climate action directly to Oregonians so that we can collectively ensure our state becomes a leader on the path to 100% clean energy.”
