A clean fuels policy covering the Puget Sound region would create a market approximately the same size as the market for Oregon’s Clean Fuels Standard, while improving air quality in some of the most polluted freeway corridors.
Portland, Oregon –– Climate Solutions announced Tuesday that they have joined a broad coalition to file a series of statewide climate action ballot initiatives. Under the umbrella of Oregonians for Clean Air, Initiative Petitions 48, 49, and 50 would:
· require all of Oregon’s electricity to come from 100% clean and renewable sources by 2045,
· transform our homes, vehicles, and businesses to be powered by clean energy instead of fossil fuels

Governor Kate Brown announced today that she supports calling the Oregon State Legislature into a special session, but addressing the climate crisis was notably absent from the agenda. This omission is the latest major failure by Oregon’s elected officials to fulfill their promise to take climate action to protect this place we all call home.

After a record-length debate following record-high temperatures in Salem, the Oregon House of Representatives passed the Clean Energy Jobs Act, HB 2020B, 36-24. Now the Senate will take up the bill.
The Washington House of Representatives has passed a Clean Fuel Standard, which would align the state with its West Coast neighbors--expanding the market for low carbon fuels, reducing the costs and impacts of air pollution to public health, and increasing economic investment and returns from local renewable fuel production.
