The Northwest has emerged as a center of climate leadership, and Climate Solutions is an active catalyst, advocate, and campaign hub for this leadership. For over a decade, we have led successful initiatives to deliver climate and energy policy that accelerate the transition from fossilfuels to a clean energy economy. We have built broad, winning coalitions for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and carbon reduction policies that are positioning the Northwest as an incubator and proving ground for sustainable prosperity.

West Coast Climate Campaign

Renew Oregon | The Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy

Right now, the West Coast region, stretching from California north through British Columbia, has a unique opportunity to demonstrate powerful climate and clean energy leadership. The region – the fifth largest economy on the planet – can dramatically cut climate pollution; build a strong, equitable, clean energy economy; and establish working, replicable models of climate solutions. These accomplishments can in turn drive change climate and clean energy action at the national level.

Climate Solutions is leading the way in the Pacific Northwest to join with our neighbors in British Columbia and California to enact climate policy that will put a price on carbon pollution and drive the economy forward with low-carbon solutions.

Power Past Coal

Across the United States, coal — the single largest source of climate pollution — continues to decline in use. The Northwest is on the front lines of this transition, phasing out our own coal plants and refusing to serve as a staging ground for coal exports. The physics are not subtle: the coal era must end, and the Northwest can show the way by becoming the first coal-free, clean energy-powered region. This transition presents an unprecedented opportunity for investment and deployment in clean energy sources and efficient energy use — a main driver for Northwest prosperity.
