Celebrating and protecting the Salish Sea
Location
Golden Gardens Park, Seattle

In an historic sign of unity, tribes from across the region will call for putting an end to the threats of coal and oil to treaty-protected rights and sacred places.

Leaders from the Lummi Nation and other tribal leaders from the Pacific Northwest  will stand together to show that when it comes to coal and oil—none shall pass through our region and put our history, our environment and future generations at stake.

We are honored that you and I are invited.

This celebration will follow a press conference held earlier that day, at which tribal leaders will sign a proclamation in support of treaty rights that are imperiled by these proposed projects, to include the Lummi Nation’s inherent, sovereign right to protect the lands, waters, and natural and cultural resources of Xwe’chi’eXen (Cherry Point).

When: Thursday, May 14, 2015 6pm –9pm
Where: Golden Gardens Bath House in Seattle, WA  (map)

For far too long we have witnessed the impacts of the fossil fuel industry upon the land, water, air and human health.   But this is a new day.  To those who would sacrifice the Salish Sea and the way and quality of life, we say: Take notice. Enough is enough! The game has changed.  We, the people, draw the line here, in this place, at this time.

Singer and songwriter Chenoa Egawa of the Lummi Nation will begin the evening with the Honor Song.  We will hear from Rueben George from Tsleil-Waututh First Nation, and will have a special guest speaker from Chile, Juan Pablo Orrego, Member of the Board of the International Rivers Network and founder of Ecosistemas.  The evening will end with the round drum honoring song.

This is an event not to be missed!   RSVP today!
