No coal bailout banner
What part of "no more coal" doesn't Trump understand?
Washington State is so over coal. We banned it from our power plants, from our ports—and from our air and water. The Trump administration's heavy-handed attempt to keep coal alive in the Northwest is backward-looking and unlawful. That's why we're fighting back.

Hey coal terminal: send not for whom the bell tolls

Arch Coal's bankruptcy filing sends a huge signal that coal export is a bad business, and has no place in the Washington economy. Let's make sure our state leaders get the message.

Arch Coal Bankruptcy: The End of an Era

The nation's second-largest coal company declared bankruptcy after years of unresponsive management and a stock value in freefall. With consumers increasingly concerned about public health and demanding cleaner energy, the writing is on the wall for the entire coal industry.

In Oregon, we're blazing a trail for clean energy

Less than a month after the historic Paris agreement on climate change, Oregon utilities, climate advocates and environmental groups are heeding—and leading—the international community’s call for a clean energy transition.

Beyond coal and oil... we see solutions

Together we are beating back Big Oil and Big Coal. And as we do, we're making space for real solutions and a thriving, inclusive clean energy future. With a new year (and new struggles) approaching, let's join hands and get ready. Will you sign up for that?

From the Pacific to Paris and back

The Paris Agreement sets the stage for the immediate future of coordinated, international climate action. Much of the actual progress will depend on local and regional action; every Northwest oil terminal abandoned, ton of coal left in ground, and solar panel installed, fuels the ambition of the U.S., Canada, and therefore countries around the world to meet and exceed our carbon-reduction goals.

First out of the gate: Oregon poised for climate action

Oregon’s Legislature may be headed into a short session next week, but the agenda for climate and clean energy is nothing short of completely impressive. Only two months after the historic Paris Agreement on climate change, Oregon is poised to be the first state out of the gate to heed the call to action.

A new future

Submitted by Beth Doglio on

We're proud of our grandfathers who mined coal to power our economy in decades past. We hope that our grandchildren will be proud of our generation's work to replace coal with clean and renewable sources of energy. That transition is steaming ahead in 2016.
