Whose Land Are You On?

Whose land are we on?

At Climate Solutions we acknowledge we are on Indigenous land and also consider what it means to recognize and attempt to understand the brutal history and legacy of colonialism and genocide, the impacts of which deeply persist. We have staff located in Seattle, Portland, Bellingham, and Olympia working and living on the traditional territories of the following (but not limited to) people and Tribes:

Seattle, WA: Suquamish, Stillaguamish, Muckleshoot and Duwamish

Olympia, WA: Nisqually, Cowlitz, Squaxin

Bellingham, WA: Nuxwsa'7aq (Nooksack)

Portland, OR: Multnomah, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, Clackamas, Cowlitz, Cascades, Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians

Indigenous peoples have lived on and stewarded these lands for many generations, and continue to do so today.

Acknowledging the truth of colonization and genocide is one important task we can do, but knowledge must be accompanied by action, such as researching whose land we are currently on, connecting with Indigenous communities and tribes, supporting their priorities that support and build up their communities, including restoring treaty rights and land sovereignty, and so much more.

As you support Climate Solutions—both our organization and solutions for the climate crisis—we hope that we can use this small webpage as a reminder to continue including Indigenous leaders and Indigenous solutions as part of the solution to the climate crisis. This can look like reaching out to listen and learn, donating resources, making a seat at your decision-making table for Indigenous folks, and more.

We acknowledge that this webpage represents the beginning of our effort and it is our responsibility to pursue further learning and actions and stay curious. We will update this page periodically with new resources and understandings.
