In a new pact, Governors of Washington, Oregon and California along with British Columbia’s Premier agreed that all four jurisdictions will account for the costs of carbon pollution and that, where appropriate and feasible, link programs to create consistency and predictability across the region of 53 million people. The leaders also committed to adopting and maintaining low carbon fuel standards in each jurisdiction.

Goldman Sachs Sacks Coal Terminal Investment

Goldman Sachs Infrastructure Partners has sold off its remaining equity investment in the company proposing a 48 million ton per year coal export terminal north of Bellingham whicih, if built, would be the largest coal export terminal in North America. The move comes after coal companies have tabled or dropped three out of six proposed coal export terminals in the Pacific Northwest in the last two years.
